I tell the story of Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘Little Mermaid’ in the first person, as if I am her. In the beginning my veil becomes my beautiful long hair and my feet are tied together in the shape of a fish tail. I spend the first half of the performance on the floor. But half way through the story I must exchange my tail (and tongue) for a pair of legs so I can go up onto land. The tie from my feet at this point becomes a gag, through which I tell the rest of my story.
